Hello to all my DIY guys and gals out there and all you in between,
So, you walk into a friend’s house and the first thing you see is this incredible wall hanging that looks like a game of scrabble board with your friends’ families’ names. Your first thought is I want that but what you should be thinking is I’ve got to make that and how…. well great news babe…. I’m here to tell you just that or at the least I can tell you step by step how I made mine, so you know somewhat of what to do cuz I’m no pro so please don’t take me as one. I’m just a bored stay at home mom who likes to try and make random things and I want to share them with you so you can try to. So, I say good luck to you and myself…. so here we go… first let’s get into the supplies you will need because it’s what I used.
Supplies needed:
1.white acrylic paint, black chalk paint, greyish wood stain
2.5×5 square plain wood pieces
3.paint brushes
4.a pencil
5.a longish piece of woodNow that we have gone over supplies let’s get started.
Step 1, you will want to start painting all your wood pieces white to then paint the sides with stain or you can paint the squares with the stain then with the white to sand it a little to give it a rustic look.I went with the white first. pics are attached below
Step 2, Sand all sides of each piece just a little in order to stain the edges.
Step 3, Using the sponge like brush stain all edges of each piece and use a cotton raw to wipe excess stain and wipe over entire piece in order to help with the rustic look.
Step 4,Once all pieces have dried then you want to start by using a pencil to lightly draw your letters onto each square.
Step 5,Once you’re happy with the way the letters look, now it’s time to paint the letters on with the black chalk paint.
Step 6. Let it all dry.
Step 7, Now it’s time to put your letters together on a piece of wood to hang it up on the wall. You can totally get your husband or other person to help you with this, especially if your short like me and literally can’t reach high enough to hang anything.
Step 8,Finally sit back and admire your piece of art and as a bonus invite some friends over to gush over it and wonder how much it cost you… Never tell you made it lol.
